Work at Camp Limmud NY!

Working at Camp Limmud NY requires a committment to attend the entire conference (Thursday night through Monday night) and availability for meetings and trainings on weekday evenings in New York City this fall (at least twice).

We need a dynamic team of madrichim (counselors) led by one rosh (head counselor) to provide our youngest Limmudnyks with a Camp Limmud NY experience they will never forget.

Babysitting

Daytime babysitting is included in the registration fees for children under 2 years of age. To arrange for a babysitter in the evening after camp and childcare close, please put a note on the Family message board for a teenage conference participant to watch your children. Any babysitting needs after childcare closes will need to be arranged at your own cost, with the exception of Saturday night shmira-style babysitting – with volunteers “keeping watch” in the hallway while children sleep peacefully in their rooms from 7:00-10:00pm.

Camp Limmud NY Guitar and Kids

Camp Limmud NY offers creative programming in a safe environment for children ages 2 years to fifth grade and their families in parallel to the regular Limmud NY sessions. Camp Limmud NY is organized by a core team of madrichim/counselors who plan a variety of activities including arts, music, dance, sports, Jewish learning, and more. The counselors are supervised by one rosh, or head counselor.

Camp Limmud NY also includes special sessions with top Jewish educators and artists who tailor their material to the relevant ages in addition to offering family sessions.

Middle School Track

New in 2009, Limmud NY now offers an enhanced middle school program for students in 6th through 8th grade.  It includes an environmental component, Tzedakah project, a session teaching an arts and crafts project to young children and choices such as text study, hiking,  and Krav Maga/Israeli Martial Arts.   The daytime program is staffed by Madrichim/counselors and a Rashei/facilitator.

See the 2009 Middle School Track Schedule here.

Family Programming

Family sessions are indicated in the general program book.  All conference participants are warmly invited to attend.  Examples of family sessions at Limmud NY 2008 include:  Harry Potter and the Yetzer Hara: the fight against evil begins within, led by Danny Nevins and Yiddish Games for the Entire Family, with Nikokai "Kolya" Borodulin.
